Interview for PGCE course

Yaaay!

After applying via the GTTR a few weeks back, I have been offered an interview for a place on Swansea Institute of Higher Education's PGCE course for Chemistry with Science, starting in September 2006.

The letter is slightly worrying, as it mentions:-

'During the interview you will be asked questions on your selected subject and about your commitment to teaching.'

and some notes on preparation for the interview:-

At interview be prepared for:

1. Answering GCSE-style questions for Chemistry
2. An open written task e.g. to summarize a newspaper article, write about your greatest achievement
3. Either to make a five-minute presentation on one of the following topics:

Circulation
Respiration
Acids and Alkalis
Elements
Astronomy
Electricity

Or be prepared to talk at length and in depth (approx five mins) about either a) or b) below:

a) Your recent school experience e.g. as a learning support assistant or as an observer.

b) Your recent teaching experience

It's excellent that I have been informed what is expected of me at the interview, but I am somewhat daunted to realise that I have seven days to revise GCSE Chemistry, prepare a talk, and get ready for the interview. (there is also the small matter of selling the business, and running it as well!). But, hey, I love a challenge, and it's a small taster for the tasks I will face in the next 18 months.
