Another view of coursework
From the indie : -
Waking at 2 am this morning, I found my 16-year-old son still at his desk, finishing his music coursework. Like many parents, I believe the toll that coursework takes on family life is intolerable. Widespread public concern with all aspects of coursework prompted the Government to ask the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for a review into its role.
Having just been through the coursework load for GCSE's with Hari, I have some sympathy with the above article. The masses of work she had to produce for her Art course was, at times, immense (and even quite costly). I'm sure her other work, and her revision of other subjects suffered because of this. Other coursework, by contrast, seemed sensible, and was staggered throughought the year. So, I guess a mixed bag. This is certainly a point to note for the future.
